Improve User Experience & Your Sales with Copywriting

80% of web design that sells is less about beauty and more about text.

Better copy tells the user which actions to take and why. If you’re struggling with making online sales, the first thing you need to try is improving the copy.

There are specifics in writing for web (and I am talking about general copy, not blogs). So here are some tips on how to write for better UX:

💎 Less is more

Try being as short as possible. Smaller paragraphs are easier to scan than long ones. Try saying more with less and your texts will be easier to read. One way to avoid wordiness is reading your text out loud. If you can’t read a sentence in one breath, shorten it.

💎 Structure the text

Divide all important ideas into groups, both logically and visually. Each group shouldn’t have more than 4 points. The first point goes into the headline and 3 are located below in the main body of text. If you have just 4 points, instead of 5-7, people are more likely to read and remember them.

💎 Highlight main points

Your prospects should get the gist of your page just by reading headlines and highlighted words. Highlight main ideas with stronger font and graphics.

💎 Repeat and paraphrase

Our main goal is to make the user take a certain action. So keep reminding them about it. Use one call to action per screen. Don’t be afraid to be too intrusive with your CTAs.

A separate note about using text as an interface. When figuring out what to put on a button and how to structure menu items and other navigation elements, treat words as graphic elements. If it’s not working visually, rewrite it!

Better copy means better user experience, higher engagement, more customer satisfaction and more sales!
